Democratic infighting erupted after a handful of prominent lawmakers railed against former Rep. Colin Allred following Tuesday’s runoff election win, citing the Black Democrat’s decision to unseat Texas’ sole openly lesbian lawmaker. Reps. Mark Takano, D-Calif., and Ritchie Torres, D-N.Y., co-chairs of the Democrat-aligned Equality Caucus’ political arm, sharply criticized Allred for challenging Rep. Julie Johnson in the Democratic primary for a deep-blue Dallas-anchored House seat. "It’s no secret that, without Julie, Texas — and likely the entire South — will lose openly LGBTQ representation in Congress," the Equality PAC co-chairs wrote in a statement Wednesday. "Many in our community remain deeply hurt by Colin Allred’s decision to challenge one of our own." "As he moves forward, he bears a responsibility to help heal those divisions and rebuild trust with the communities impacted by this race," they added. JASMINE CROCKETT BACKS COLIN ALLRED IN TEXAS DEMOCRATIC US HOUSE PRIMARY RUNOFF The statement marked a notable rift in the party that has embraced identity politics, pitting a Black Democrat who is straight against a White lesbian lawmaker. Prominent Democratic-aligned commentators blasted the statement as unhelpful to the party's election efforts. "Oh my god, this kind of whining is so off-putting. Straight people are allowed to run for office," journalist Josh Barro wrote on social media. "Leave this s--- in Woke 1, besties," Tré Easton, a former senior aide to Sen. John Fetterman, D-Pa., said in response to the Equality PAC statement. The Equality PAC’s attack on Allred also comes as House Democratic leadership has accused Republicans of trying to gut Black representation in Congress by pursuing redistricting in southern states. "In addition to trying to rig the midterm elections, they want to decimate Black and Latino representation in Congress," House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., said of Republicans on MS NOW earlier in May. CENTRIST DEMS TURN ON FAR LEFT AFTER THE ELECTION: 'IDENTITY POLITICS' IS 'ABSOLUTELY KILLING US' The Equality PAC contributed at least $484,000 to Johnson’s campaign, the Texas Tribune reported. Johnson also serves as a vice-chair of the group. Allred comfortably defeated Johnson Tuesday by a nearly 8-point margin in the Democratic primary runoff election. The decisive victory ends Johnson’s short-lived career after she succeeded Allred in the House when he launched a failed Senate bid against Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, in 2024. Knight came out of the back and rushed to the ring as Maxwell Jacob Friedman (MJF) was celebrating an AEW World Championship win over Allin in a hair vs. title match. Knight went to the top rope and hit a UFO Splash on Allin as he was tied down on a stretcher. He then tipped the stretcher over. It was one of the more shocking things to happen during the show. Knight’s tag team partner, "Speedball" Mike Bailey, came out to address him. He said he heard what he heard was Knight was saying and knew how ambitious he was. He warned Knight about getting ahead of himself and making mistake. Bailey said Knight made a "mistake" with his assault on Allin. He said it can be fixed if Knight apologized. He put his hand out to embrace Knight. Instead, Knight gave him a shoulder bump and hit Bailey with a clothesline. Knight hit another move on Bailey before leaving the ring. MJF’s world title celebration MJF joined an exclusive club on Sunday when he achieved his third world title reign by the age of 30 when he defeated Allin for the AEW World Championship. On Wednesday, he entered Philadelphia on a throne for his celebration. MJF basked in the glory of beating Allin after only losing the belt a month prior. He reminded the crowd that only eight men have been world champion three times by the age of 30. "They’re going to be writing about me in the history books," he declared. "They’re going to be talking about me until the sun explodes. I really hope you dumb, ignorant, worthless shmucks are even remotely cognizant of how fortunate you are, of how truly, truly lucky you are to get to witness the greatness that is me in real time. "You are living in the greatest era imaginable and it’s the greatest era because it’s all about me. I am a three-time, three-time, three-time champion of the world. The best wrestler in the world. The most complete professional wrestler in the world. No. 1, ain’t nobody close, a generational talent." Before fans had time to "bow" to MJF’s greatness, Mark Briscoe came out to confront the champion. He said MJF didn’t "fit in" in Philadelphia because he’s not tough enough. He reminded MJF that it wasn’t too long ago that he pinned him and wanted a title shot. MJF declined Briscoe’s challenge because AEW wasn’t just a sport, but also a business. And that it was "bad enough" Allin was a champion. He laughed at the fact that Briscoe believed he was good enough to hold the AEW title. "You are nowhere near on the level of the devil," MJF said. Rush, after winning his four-way match, also stepped up to MJF. He called MJF a "chicken s---," reminding MJF that he almost beat him as well. MJF said if anyone’s earned a title shot, it was Rush. It was their first pro wrestling tag titles in 25 years after beating FTR at Double or Nothing. Cage gave FTR their praise, saying they are "top guys" and one of the best tag teams they ever faced. But they aren’t on the "tippy top." Copeland said that it was time to "live in the now." Copeland and Cage hit the right notes that fans have come to expect. They were going to hit a five-second pose for the benefit of those with flash photography. Copeland even brought out disposable cameras for the moment. The moment, however, was gone in a flash. David Finlay and Clark Connors came out and attacked the tag champions before the special moment could take place. They seemed to declare themselves the next ones to step up and take aim at the belts. Owen Hart Tournament update Claudio Castagnoli and Brody King met in their quarterfinal matchup. The two big men went chop-for-chop and slam-for-slam. It was King to advance over Castagnoli in a hard-hitting affair. King advanced in the tournament and will take on Swerve Strickland, who beat Bandido at Double or Nothing. It was a rematch between the AEW national champion, Mark Davis, and the former AEW national champion, Jack Perry, in the Owen Hart tournament. Both men were coming off of a Stadium Stampede match at Double or Nothing, looking to continue their dreams of earning a shot at the AEW world title. Perry and Davis battled throughout the last 15 minutes of the show. He went for a running knee strike but Davis caught him and connected with a a vicious clothesline. Perry kicked out of a pin, but Davis kept up his attack and eventually picked up the win. Davis will take on Will Ospreay in the semifinals. Meanwhile, Alex Windsor was set to face Willow Nightingale in the tournament before the TBS champion had to withdraw and relinquish her belt due to an injury. Windsor was asked about preparing for her wildcard opponent. She said she had been preparing for her big moment for her entire career and all she wanted to be was "the best" in women’s wrestling. "I am on a path to prove that when it comes to being the best in the world, Alex Windsor is part of that conversation. A path that ends exactly where it started – my home. It’s a path I’m not walking alone because my darling, my Billy (Will Ospreay), he is chasing his Wembley dream and so am I," she said. California's high school track and field state finals kick off in Clovis on Friday, with an expected protest presence for the second straight year. The California Interscholastic Federation's (CIF) state finals will include a prominent transgender athlete competing in the high jump, long jump and triple jump. Last year, the athlete's presence prompted competing protests, a plane with a flyover banner, ejections from the venue, and a person with a trans flag was even arrested after allegedly assaulting an opposing protester. "Because the CIF, Governor Newsom, and the state legislature continue to fail and ignore our female athletes there is a distraction that hangs over this weekend’s events for a second year in a row. The abject failure of the adults in control of these policies is outrageous and ridiculous. A survey done in April 2025 by the Public Policy Institute of California showed that over 70% of California’s public school parents support only biological girls competing in girls’ sports divisions," Pearce told Fox News Digital. Pearce reflected on the chaos that occurred at last year's event. "We saw so many people come out to show their support for the female athletes last year and the only arrest was a trans-activist who assaulted someone who was leaving the area after standing in support of the girls competing. I call on everyone to be respectful of the athletes and their families who have worked so hard and sacrificed for years to reach this level of competition," Pearce added. "I know our police department will ensure a safe environment and it is my hope that the female athletes feel the support from this community. But, again, it is unacceptable for CIF, the state legislature, and Governor Newsom to allow another State Championship to come around without having restored the integrity of the girls’ divisions and respecting and protecting our girls’ sports and spaces." CALIFORNIA TRACK AND FIELD CHAMPIONSHIP SEES ARREST AND AERIAL BANNER AMID TRANSGENDER CONTROVERSY The trans athlete, AB Hernandez of Jurupa Valley High School, has dominated the girls' high jump, triple jump and long jump throughout the postseason leading up to finals, taking first place, often by large margins, in each of the first three rounds this month. The CIF has re-implemented a policy change that was used for last year's state finals, where any female athlete that finishes behind Hernandez is bumped up by one spot. The change resulted in images of Hernandez sharing podium spots with female competitors who finished behind the trans athlete at last year's finals and the last two postseason rounds this year, and prompted criticism from those on both sides of the argument. The controversy around last year's finals was stoked when President Donald Trump sent a post on Truth Social in the days leading up to the event, calling out Newsom for allowing males to continue competing in girls' sports in the state. This year, several politicians have weighed in as the controversy around the podiums has been renewed, including GOP congress members Nancy Mace, Tim Burchett and Texas Gov. Greg Abbott. Meanwhile, on the other side of the aisle, Newsom's office addressed the protesters in a controversial statement prior to the start of the postseason with the phrase, "stand with all kids and stand up to bullies," and California gubernatorial candidate Tom Steyer recently backed trans athletes in an interview with Jennifer Welch. "There are more important things than whether you start on your high school basketball team, and that is standing up for people who are under threat of death," Steyer said. Activision has officially announced Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 and says the game will launch on October 23rd, 2026. Modern Warfare 4, which is developed by Infinity Ward, will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X / S, PC - and it will also be the first Call of Duty title to launch on the Nintendo Switch 2 following a 10-year deal Microsoft reached with Nintendo as it worked to complete the Activision Blizzard acquisition. The intense media scrutiny and Republican attacks facing Democratic Senate candidate Graham Platner of Maine over his controversial and inflammatory past online comments and his now-removed but well-publicized tattoo on his chest that resembled a Nazi symbol don't appear to be slowing him down. A new public opinion poll shows Platner holding an upper single-digit lead over longtime Republican Sen. Susan Collins of Maine in a race that is among a handful that will likely decide if the GOP holds its slim 53-47 majority in the Senate in this year's midterm elections. Platner, a progressive candidate backed by Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont, stands at 51% support among likely Maine voters, with Collins at 42%, in a Pine Tree State poll conducted by the University of New Hampshire. Six percent of respondents were undecided, with 2% backing other candidates. The survey is the latest public opinion poll to indicate Platner, an oyster farmer and Army and Marine veteran who served in combat in the Afghanistan and Iraq wars, leading Collins, a moderate Republican who is seeking a sixth six-year term in the Senate representing left-leaning Maine. WHAT MAINE VOTERS TOLD FOX NEWS DIGITAL ABOUT GRAHAM PLATNER'S CONTROVERSIES Ninety-one percent of Democrats questioned said they'd vote for Platner in the general election, with 87% of Republicans backing Collins. The senator held a slight 47%-44% edge over Platner for the support of independents. The poll was released two weeks ahead of Maine's primary. Platner is considered the Democrats' presumptive nominee after two-term Democratic Gov. Janet Mills, who was backed by Senate Democratic Leader Sen. Chuck Schumer and other establishment leaders, suspended her campaign a month ago. Mills cited fundraising concerns and polling woes for her decision to end her bid. But the governor's name will remain on the primary ballot. According to the poll, Platner stands at 76% support for the Democratic nomination, with Mills at 10% and longshot Senate contender, David Costello of Brunswick, who spent decades working in state and federal government, at 3%. Collins faces no challengers for the Republican Senate nomination. PLATNER CONFRONTED OVER PAST ON-LINE CONTROVERSIAL COMMENTS Platner, who advocates an economically populist agenda as he takes aim at corporate influences and advocates for the working class as he runs for the Senate, has been criticized by Collins and other Republicans as too extreme for Maine. "I believe that will be the conclusion of Maine voters. But, obviously, I don't take anything for granted," Collins said when asked in a Fox News Digital interview earlier this month if Platner was too far to the left. But Platner, in a Fox News Digital interview a week later, argued, "What's radical is somebody like Susan Collins, who, for decades now, has made sure that we pass policies that are going to help corporations and billionaires to the detriment of working people, supporting over and over and over again, illegal and insane foreign wars." Platner, amid a slew of media stories, has come under fire from Republicans in recent weeks over his past controversial comments from last decade, after he returned from combat tours of duty, as well as more recent comments earlier this decade, that he made on Reddit. WHAT GRAHAM PLATNER SAID IN A FOX NEWS DIGITAL INTERVIEW Platner apologized for his controversial Reddit posts after they made headlines last fall soon after he launched his Senate campaign. But confronted by Fox News Digital last week near his home in Maine, Platner declined to apologize both to voters and a Purple Heart recipient when asked about a deleted Reddit post where he said the wounded soldier "didn’t deserve to live." Meanwhile, Platner has said he got the skull and crossbones tattoo in 2007 while drinking with fellow Marines stationed in Croatia. He said that he covered up the tattoo with a new design after learning last year that it resembled a Nazi symbol. DEMOCRACY ’26: STAY UP TO DATE WITH THE FOX NEWS ELECTION HUB It's not just Republicans who are taking aim at Platner over the comments and the tattoo. A few Democrats are also speaking out. Democratic Rep. Jake Auchincloss of Massachusetts this week reiterated his criticism of Platner. "As I said months ago, I find Platner’s Nazi tattoo and his commentary about it personally disqualifying," Auchincloss wrote Tuesday in a social media post.
